Scary: BPA amounts in canned food...Not a thrifty post - a be-cautious post

Ouch - I'm shocked at some of the things on this list...some of the things we've all eaten hundreds of times...I wish these companies would take responsibility and keep this junk out of their products!!!  This is why I chose glass baby bottles for Tommy - and why I am ridding my kitchen of all things plastic.  Who can we trust???

Here is a list of the WORST offenders tested.  Annies????  An all natural food company on this list???  I'm ready to ban the cans from our house too.  Call me crazy, but they've linked BPA exposure to diabetes.  I'm diabetic, my mother is diabetic, my husband's father was diabetic - my kids don't need to increase their risk in any way.

Information about BPA here - this is very unbiased information - just presents the facts.
Problems with BPA article found here.

  1. Not cool. Not cool at all. I made a point to breast feed as long as I could (lucky for me 15 months) and when I needed to use a bottle I had Dr. Brown's on hand. Boo to those guys! It's like being stabbed in the back. I don't care if it's trace amounts found from the manufactuers. I don't want any traces. That's what I paid for and that's what I want. I hope they see this. I know they aren't the only ones, but I have zero tolerance for being misled. I only own one glass bottle so now I am at a loss. Great post!

  2. I agree with you 100%! We are still breastfeeding at 17 months - although only a few minutes a day at this point :) I had to work though so I pumped and bottle fed while I was away :( We went with glass bottles this time around to avoid any possibility of learning about new plastic contaminants...I used Avent with my first son (who was also breastfed until 9 months) and was so angry when I found out I was using something that could be potentially dangerous!!
